My favourite weather

Yesterday was my favourite kind of weather.  24 degrees and not too sunny.
Being a pale redhead, the sun and I don't blend very well. I get burnt on overcast days and my dad has had a few too many cases of skin cancer so I am really weary of spending too much time in the sun.

Yesterday there was a little bit of sunshine but not the nasty kind, so after we slip, slop, slapped, Sadie and I went for a walk around the 'hood.

We took Mersey James with us in her little stroller, which I ended up carrying half way home because S was over it, but the thing that made me smile the most is the last picture.
Using my iphone to take some pics I was walking backwards to try to get some pics of her walking towards me. Well she thought this was something she had to try so did the same pushing her stroller with her bum.
These are the moments I want to put in a bottle and remember always.
It is also a reminder to constantly watch my words and actions because S is entering the "sponge" stage and I best watch what she starts to absorb!!!!!!

Dear weekend (point and shoot)

Dear weekend,
Thanks for being pretty good. After a week of moments that left me anxious, sad, scared and ultimately thankful, you were OK.
I cooked up a feast for my brother from another mother and his beautiful girlfriend. (Oh yum my prawn dim sum ROCKED!!!). And as it always does with great company time flew.
Sunday we all had a bit of a sleep in and then hit the road for some house hunting (more to follow on that). And some POINT & SHOOT action.
I love some point & shoot action with fatmumslim and the gang

We interrupted our hunting with a birthday card shoot
Happy Birthday Mel
so many cuuuutttteee photos of Sadie with her baby cake but I don't want to ruin the surprise.

So weekend you still had your moments, but you were better than that nasty week that cam before you.So thanks LV B xoxo

Dear this week

Dear this week,
You suck. I am ready for you to be over.
To counter balance your crappiness I am going to have a great weekend you hear me!
And even though you don't deserve the prettiness of these beautiful peonies I'm going to leave them here anyway, because I like them and that's that!
LV B xoxo

God speed

Today I am thinking of a far off place. A place that I will probably never see and have no desire to either. A place where it's shameful to be a woman and where school aged children are trained to use machine guns.

Afghanistan is also a place where this week, my cousin, a soldier, was involved in a terrorist incident. Before I go on, he is safe but the reality of where he is really hit home this week. The details are still sketchy, but like most of the things that go on over there we probably won't know exact details. Jase keeps us updated via facebook but his updates are vague. I'd like to blame the vagueness on male emotion skills, but the reality is he can't tell us what he is doing as most of it is top secret.
What I do know is that he was in a vehicle that was hit by a bomb and was thrown 20 mts. He was air lifted to base hospital and pocked and prodded and tests this afternoon have shown a small fracture in his spine so he'll be heading back to his Australian base for a couple of weeks for a proper recovery. There is talk that once he is fully recovered he will return to his tour.

I won't even pretend to try to understand this war or the reasons why our boys are fighting over there. It's so easy to say we should leave the Afghans to fight amongst themselves but there's so much more to it. And like Jason's status once said "We're doing it so you don't have to".

I can't wait to give my six foot plus baby cousin a big hug and maybe a hit for scaring the shit out of us.

This year ANZAC day will have just a little bit more significance in this house.

I stole the above image from Jason's Facebook album. Here's also a news article link about the incident

Putting it out there

Alright so excuse my craziness, but the weirdest thing happened to me last night and has freaked me out a bit. I figure if I put it into words before bedtime I might sleep a bit better tonight.
I don't actually know/remember if I was awake or asleep but I saw the image of Corey Haim flash into my mind and then I felt a heaviness type of pushing against my body. It was like a block of heaviness and I tried to scream but I couldn't get any sound out and I couldn't move my body. I am pretty sure my eyes were open at this point too. Eventually I got some sound out, I am kind of thinking that possibly I was asleep and woke myself by screaming, Phil said he heard me crying as well. As soon as I was "awake" the pushing stopped but I was spooked, to say the least.  I tossed and turned for the rest of the night and today have felt BLAH all day.
So now that I've got that out, I have my fingers crossed for sweet peaceful dreams......

Happy Mail Exchange Incoming

Yay the postie delivered some joy. I got my Happy Mail Exchange parcel and opened it to the awesome-ness of this book.
The title gives it all away it's about how women's style and images have changed (evolved) in the last century. I can't wait to sit down and read it properly.
Thanks so much Leesa, I love it

Happy Mail Exchange OUTGOING

I recently took part in fatmumslim's Happy Mail Exchange.
I love physical mail, but in this day and age, with emails, texting etc, it's very rare to find something in your mail box that isn't a bill, so I thought this would be a bit of fun.

It was fun buying random things for a stranger.

The details for my recipient (Shantell) were that she liked to sew, girly things, gorgeous stationery, buttons, fabrics and anything from Japan.
This is what I sent off

The first thing I though of was the current issue of mixtape
This is put together by one of my most awesomest friends and is a great read.
The "cool, crafty set" have been onto this for a while and I wanted to share the joy.
I think I well and truly covered the "girly" quota. A gorgeous pink nail polish and some cute rose earrings (which I may have purchased a set for myself as well).
There's also a small mirror and a kokeshi style keyring. There's also the sweetest smelling soy candle (peony mmm my favourite) and the candle holder has a japanese print around it.
I made some button flowers to decorate the items and also added a block of Lindt chocolate, wish I'd brought two of those. I finished it off with a T2 chamomile tea for some chill time.

Shantell is also the mother of twin girls. So I threw in a little something for each of her girls.
Oh twins. My mum is a twin, when I first found out I was up the duff I so wanted twins.
In hindsight I'm so glad Sadie travelled solo, but there's always next time.

I hope Shantell liked her goodies, it was fun putting everything together

I can't be late for my very important date

To be totally honest today I wanted to build a fortress and keep Sadie safe inside away from harm, there is some serious evil shit happening out there, but I do have a very important date and I know she will be in safe loving hands for a couple of hours.

I am just a wee bit, OK MASSIVELY, excited to see Alice In Wonderland tonight.
IMAX 3D!!!!
Time to see if Johnny is still as hot as a ging.
