A weekend of how's and why's

Well hello Monday, weren't you just here.

Us Melbournites were inflicted with another weekend FULL of raining, pouring.
I am seriously starting to think Mother Nature is playing practical jokes on us. The low 30's during the week, then back to long sleeves and umbrellas on the weekend. WHY?

Being stuck indoors can make my little Sadiecakes a bit of cabin fever
And I struggle to work out HOW she can go from this sweet little angel

to this, faster than you can put up an umbrella in the pouring rain.
"Don't wan it!!!!!!" With a big emphasis on the crossed arms. So dramatic

I guess the "Terrible Two's" are to blame for that.

I try to put myself in her shoes, it must be hard when your communication is limited and there is SO much to learn. Most car rides are filled with questions of "WHAT's this & WHAT's that" and I can pretty much guarantee that every time she lays down to sleep a random noise will occur and she'll ask "WHAT dat noise?".
Thankfully the fun outweighs the frustration.

This weekend I was also questioning HOW we have come to rely on electronic banking, as my bank had major issues and my accounts and went into debit.
While I was a little panicked (it seems to be fixed now) I spent most of the weekend cashless and my cards wouldn't work. Thank goodness for my parents still living practically and having some cash, otherwise it would have been steamed rice and tomato sauce for the next few days.

How was your weekend? Are you playing point and shoot over at Fat Mum Slim's?

Anticipation

Every so often I suffer from movie obsession, and watch the trailer over and over.

Somewhere is my new obsession. I love Sophia Coppola so much.
She's just so friggin cool. Lost In Translation is one of my all time faves.
She gets it SO right with soundtracks as well. The Marie Antoinette is a constant
in this little household. Now I just have to wait until boxing day.....

Could this possibly be a Stephen Dorff comeback?

Christmas List

Even though I am sure Santa stopped reading my Christmas wish list a long time ago, I still continue to make one each year.

It's a shame this Alexander McQueen cape is sold out.
I'm sure P said my limit was 28,000 pounds this Christmas.

Point and shoot: Da da da Daaaaa

Da Da Da Daaaaaa. Here comes the bride (zilla).

We were invited to a wedding on the weekend. It was for the son of a family friend of P's.
I do know the groom but had never met the bride so I was feeling a little awkward about the whole situation. When I did meet the bride my awkward-ness was justified. As the new couple did their circuit and we handed over our gift (envelope), I had a little chat to the groom, then congratulated the bride and told them both they looked great as did the reception room, I then thought I should formally introduce myself to the bride. Laughingly I said "Oh by the way I'm Belinda". Her reply - wait for it - "Yeah I know, I did the seating" and then she turned away.
Really!!
Gobsmacked.
I don't care if we don't know each other and to be honest I don't care if we never see each other again but you would think after handing over an envelope with a couple of hard earn pieces of cash a little gratitude wouldn't have hurt.

So beside that sour note, and my feet aching from my heels, it was a lovely evening.
The vintage photo booth was fun fun fun.

And the little princess had a blast.
She rarely allows me to put anything in her hair so I was a bit excited when she asked for pretties in her hair. That lasted right until we walked into the reception court yard.
Oh well at least it lasted the car ride!

Are you playing along with point and shoot as well.
Even if you're not have you seen fatmumslim's blog makeover.
LOVES IT!!!!

Gonna take you for a ride on a big jet plane

Last Thursday I spent the day in Brisbane with one of my girlfriends.
I flew up on the 6.40 a.m., tight-arse, flight and left Bris-vegas at 7.40p.m.
When I booked the flight I forgot all about the time difference. Arriving there around 8 a.m. wasn't
too bad but the evening flight was slightly delayed and I got home at midnight.
It was such a long day and I swear I had jet lag!!!!

There were a few reasons for my visit.
One being to visit one of my besties that currently lives up there and it's been way too long between visits. I think when she first moved I was there three or four times in twelve months, my last visit was also the day I found out I was up the duff, hence not so many recent visits
(fingers crossed for a homecoming party in the new year for her xx), there was a cupcake shop I wanted to check out (any excuse really), but the main reason for my visit last week was to see the Valentino exhibition before it closed.

While I was a little unimpressed at the state of some of the dresses all in all AMAZING!!!
I'm assuming that some of these dresses couldn't be laundered but I had a few moments where a steamer wouldn't have gone astray, and the dress Julia Roberts wore when she won her Oscar for Erin Brokovich,

lets just say that Julia has more boobage than the mannequin that was wearing the dress.

I may have welled up a bit. Dresses worn buy Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn,
the craftsmanship and reading Valentino's quotes reminded me that with his retirement
there was another piece of history that I had witnessed.

On a totally different note why is it that 26 degrees in Brisbane is hotter than 26 in Melbourne?
I guess that explains my child free lunch beveridge

Moving forward

I've been a bit scarce around here lately. I think I may have lost my blogging mojo a bit.
I have been pretty busy. A very active two year old, a part time job, selling Tupperware to fund a new business venture that I am busy planning and life in general.
It's not that I haven't wanted to write. In fact I have written many posts.
I just never published them. Deleted for no one to read.
But I feel like it's time to get back into the swing of things.
Finding the time has been one obstacle, but my family has had a lot to deal with recently.

Just over three months ago my brother in law was tragically killed in a car accident.
It has been one of, if not the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with in my life.
I have lost people I love in times gone by, but not under these kind of circumstances.
Not at 32 years of age, leaving behind three beautiful and amazing daughters.

The phone call plays over again and again in my head. It was a rainy Sunday night and I was just dishing up dinner when my Dad rang. " BJ I've got some terrible news". He told me of the accident and then paused and told me Ronald didn't make it. The next few days were a blur of people coming and going, phones ringing and too much take away food.
My family are very close so we all banded together and held each other up.

I never imagined I'd be driving through Monday morning peak hour traffic to get to the coroner's office. I never thought I would be going through a phone book making sure all the appropriate people had been informed. I never wish those moments upon anyone.

Even now I'm not sure why I'm writing this post. Maybe it's to clear my head, maybe it will help me on and maybe it's part of my life journey.
I guess we all have different reasons for blogging.
To stay in touch. To advertise. To show off. Most of all I think it's to share.
So that's me, it's not about moving on it's about moving forward, so I hope I can get back on the blogging train and continue to share, hopefully entertain and maybe even inspire.

Finally a few things just because...

Take photos, lots of them

Write things, notes cards messages

and tell you loved ones that you do in fact love them

because there may come a day that you can't tell them that and those photos, notes and cards will mean a whole lot more than the piece of paper they are written on

Slow down

one day                                                    one year

two years

You realise the truth in every cliche when you become a parent.
Can't we just slow down the passing of time a little.

Does anyone know if there is any truth to the theory that you double your childs height at the age of two to determine how tall they will be as an adult.
At two, Miss S is 88cm. So as an adult that means 176cm!!!
i randomly googled that height and was surprised at the odd assortment of people that were 176cm

Linda Evangelista, Mariah Carey, Eve Salvail, Bruce Springsteen, Luke Perry, Ozzy Osbourne, Kurt Cobain, Albert Einstein and the genius that is Martha Stewart.
Of course there are loads more on this site, that I will now be wasting loads of time on but I figured if can take a little bit of what I like from each of these people and project that into Sadie's future she's on a pretty good path.
And at worst at least she'll have height on her side when seeing bands.........

Some blatant self promotion

If you don't ask you don't get!!!

OK peeps, so I may have mentioned I have started selling Tupperware. While I will promise my blog won't turn into a Tupperware market space I just wanted to put it out there incase anyone is interested.
Tupperware just released their BIGGEST release of the year and I'm so excited at all the amazing offers, and without trying to sound like a pushy sales person they really are too good not to share. And check out these awesome fruit/vegie keepers!
I love them totally for the kitsch aspect!!

**Sales pitch alert**
I won't go over all the specials but if you are interested in holding a demo I'd love to show you my wares. Comment below or message me - belinda_d@optusnet.com.au
even if you would just like me to send you out a specials catalogue.
If you don't have time for a party, I'm also looking for VIP order collectors (apparently in the cult it's illegal to have catalogue parties!!!) and I can reward you with some super sweet prizes.

**pitch over**
Thanks chics!!!!

Ooh yeah I should also mention the SUPA DOOPA week is 25th November - 1st December and there are certain offers that are for that week only!!!

the party

I really can not believe I now live with a two year old. How time flies.

While I struggle to see how the last two years have flown by so quickly, it also feels like Sadie has always been with us. The tiny little baby that filled my life with love and joy is now a little person and whenever I refer to her as my baby I have to correct myself,  while she will always be my baby she really is a little person. With a mind of her own!

So for her 2nd birthday we decided on a garden tea party. The first job was to get the invites sorted.

I'm super fortunate to be surrounded by some very creative types. I described what I wanted to one of my besties and she whipped up the info details of the invite to attach to the back of the photo I had taken.

My parents were kind enough to  donate their backyard for the celebration.
Lucky because with 6 people in my yard it instantly feels like a party as it's pretty small, my parents have a lovely garden and more importantly a decent sized pergola, which was our saving grace as mother nature was so upset that she didn't get an invite that she dropped a few drizzly showers on the day.

I had a few OMG moments on the day. Like my ipod dock losing power three minutes before pass the parcel, the two batches of cupcakes that didn't even get iced because I ran out of time and the 6 tiered cake that only ended up as 4 tiers because I was afraid of it tipping before it was even cut.

Here's a peek at Sadie's party

Even though I short changed the guests two layers of cake I was still pretty pleased with myself (can you tell)?

I was also pretty pleased that my other grand plan came to life
