Point and shoot: Through Sadie's eyes

Someone gotta hold of mumma's phone.

and that my friends is the fully edited version point and shoot
through the eyes of a two and a half year old.

Thought I'd spare you the 114 other photos I discovered on my phone and besides,
we are down to dial up speed and it's taken about 6 hours to complete this post.
How did we live like this?

The last 12 months have been SHIT.
It hasn't been all bad, but the bad moments have been so terrible that I'm more than happy
to not recount them. Physically and mentally drained I think my energy and creativity levels
may be at an all time low, BUT I have something to look forward to, some may say like a light
at the end of the tunnel.

We are going on a holiday, the kind of holiday where you get on a plane one afternoon
and even though you spend more than 20 hours in the air you arrive on the same day.

My babydaddy is of Portuguese decent and the majority of his family remain there.
Last year his grandmother  passed away and we were a little sad she never got to meet Sadie, especially as Sadie's middle name is taken from her (Estrella).

This year there have been several phone calls back and forth across the continents as his grandfather's health is now on a steady decline. The in laws are booked and preparing to spend three months in Portugal and we figured life is too short, so we are off too.
(Along with a few other stops along the way).

I'm now really eager for tips on travelling with toddlers.
Thankfully Sadie's pretty awesome, but still being in a confined space for pretty much a
whole day, well let's just say this mumma has already a decent supply of Rescue Remedy.
If anyone out there in blog land has been on long plane trips with a toddler I'd love to know some of your survival tips.
PLEASE

Point and Shoot: Polar Opposites

So in hindsight, the previous weeks hermit lifestyle must have been some much needed downtime in preparation for some non stop parting over this weekend just past.

Although I know it was purely coincidental I couldn't help thinking everyone had decided to throw parties over the weekend just incase stories of the impending rapture were true.

Saturday started off with a ladybug styled 1st Birthday party for my god daughter Charlotte.

How awesome is that cake!!!!

While she may not have been totally co-operative in front of the camera, she was more than happy to participate in some planking!

Kylie has shared some more details on her blog, you an read about it here

When then headed home to pick up the desserts  for my nieces 12th birthday.
Red Velvet and  Choc vanilla cupcakes, Cherry Bombs as well as a specially
requested strawberry Freddo inspired  birthday cheesecake.

I still can not believe this chic starts high school next year.
What an adventure.

The weekend was finished off with a baby shower for which I baked another
three batches of cakes. I forgot my camera and I'm totally blaming the sugar intake.
I'll be happy to not see another cake for a few weeks that's for sure.

Happy Birthday Little J

12 years ago a beautiful being entered my life.
I was there for her first breath and it was the moment that Changed my life.
When she was little she was my little Thursday buddy, we would watch
Blue's Clues ,eat sushi for lunch and just hang out.

We may have swapped Blue's Clues for  concerts but our menu
remains the same and that's totes cool with me!
Happy Birthday Jemma P

Point and Shoot : A hermit life

We've only left the house once since Wednesday. I may be on the path to becoming a hermit.
Or preparing for a winter hibernation to say the least.

When I arrived home from work on Tuesday Miss Sadie was sulky and snotty. Wednesday morning I woke with a sore ear and teeth (??) and we had to skip a birthday party and by Thursday the Mr had man flu. What is it with men these days? Seriously, my dad had heart surgery a couple of weeks ago, but that didn't stop him from manning the barbie on mother's day. Before you shriek about the fact he was the one out cooking, we all offered but he wouldn't hear of it, my Dad's a bloody legend!

So yesterday while the Mr slept most of the day away I whipped up a pot of  the
Potato and Leek soup recipe from the latest Real Living and it was soooooo good.
Will be making this a few more times over the winter months.

Now I must return to the real world, shopping to be done, bills to be paid and I think Dora may need a break as she may be at the point of exhaustion with all the exploring I'e seen her do in the last couple of days.

Time time time

Today I'm taking advantage of Melbourne's crappy weather and a sooky and snotty little
girl and getting in some quality arse time on the couch.
(Playhouse Disney probably wouldn't be my first channel of choice, but if it gives me
10 minutes on the iPad that I THOUGHT was mine, bring it on).

Lately time really does seem to get away from me.
My time management/multi -tasking skills have been left by the wayside and I feel like I
wake up and all of a sudden it's Friday. All of a sudden it's May!

The thing is if you asked me what I had been up to lately I would probably reply with 'nothing much', and try to figure out where the time had gone.

I am definitely adjusting to part time solo parenting. The baby daddy is overseeing
night works and spends about two woken hours a day at home, the majority of that time he
has phone glued to his ear. Once the weekend arrives his body clock is all over the place
so he's not really present, so it's pretty much me and Sadie all day, every day.
Suffice to say it wasn't this mumma that got to sleep in on mother's day.

So I'm going to sit here on the couch, watching Mickey Mouse, drinking copious amounts of Liquorice tea and I may even finish the half dozen blog posts that I have started over the past couple of weeks and never gotten bak to. I may also spend a few minutes (or thirty) perusing pinterest or I may even just sit here and cuddle the cold away.

And most importantly it's going to be free of guilt!

Happy Day

loving this quote that was sent to me from my mum

Real Mothers know that a child's growth
Is not measured by height or years or grade...
It is marked by the progression of Mummy to Mum to  Mother...

and Miss Sadierella I'm happy to be you're mumma anyday.
My heart is so full of love for you that I fear it may burst.

Happy mother's day all you mothers and of course especially to my mum who is the most awesome of all.
