Back to the list

Some time ago I posted a list of 34 things I wanted to do before 35
I kind of got a bit sidetracked, so I thought it was time to go back and check off a few things and make a game plan to check off as many as I can.

Thankfully with our recent move, number 1 can be crossed off.
There are quite a few that I am shifting gears towards like # 32. My sewing machine is fixed and I have done some sewing for Sadie, I have also got some material for myself I just need to find a way to check #7 of because if I had more me time I'd probably be able to cross a lot more off the list, but I don't really anticipate that happening too soon.

I am excited that I can check #29 off the list, in finding a tea I love.

Without sounding like a paid for advertisement (I wish), I discovered the Tea Maiden at the last Modish Market.
I'm loving the Tea Maiden's Blend. Delicious!!!!!!
"Enjoy a cup of this comforting tea after your meal to aid in digestion. This soothing herbal infusion of liquorice root and peppermint will steep you into a calm mind and allow you to relax and de-stress anytime."

I'm currently working on #9 and doing a two week meal plan and next week #8 will have half a tick next to it! I'll be sure to fill you in on those details

Point and shoot: These boots are made for walking

Saturday 10.58

I love winter weather. Time to snuggle, get cosy, boil the kettle and watch a TV series or two.
Well I used to. Now I have a ball of energy that does not stop.
I'm not really an outdoorsy person, but I'm trying to find the inner, umm, outdoor part of my personality (how lame did that sound? ANYWAY).
So, I brought me some gumboots for some outdoor adventures.
Boots, jackets and beanies on, we headed down to the farmer's market for some vegie  goodness.
Our adventure started well, food samples to try, puppies to chase and bags of pink lady apples at bargain prices. 15 minutes into our adventure I grabbed Sadie's hand to prevent her from walking into a pile of mud and it was like grabbing five little ice sticks.
She was totally oblivious to the impending frost bite, as she would have been more than happy to continue chasing the dogs around. I was not, so back home we came to a couple of cups of hot milo and the addition of GLOVES to our shopping list.

Don't forget to check out some more point and shoot action at

TILT on Friday

THINGS I LOVE THURSDAY TODAY

GIRL POWER

K so I have to admit, I got caught up in the momentum yesterday and I may have shed a little tear when Julia Gillard was announced our new Prime Minister.
Our first female Prime Minister.

If I wanted to think about it, the circumstances aren't perfect, after all she has this position by default, and without knowing all the details I do question as to whether she betrayed, not only her boss, but possibly a friend. That is another issue in itself but I want to focus on the positive, on the fact that our new female Prime Minister was sworn in by our first female Govenor General. Girl Power all the way.
At the end of the day, I really don't care if it's a male or female running our country, when it comes to polititians I generally think you have to choose the lesser of two evils, so whoever makes our country a better place to live gets my vote.
What I do love is that I can bring up my daughter in a world where your gender or the colour of your skin are not a bigger representation of your ability than your IQ is.
I think my generation has done OK, but we grew up in the echoes of an era where women weren't treated equally and where you had to walk on different sides of the street.
Shit, Apartheid only ended in 94 and from what's been going on in the AFL and NRL we still have a way to go, but we are getting there.
So YAY for women! YAY for minorities!
YAY for unmarried redheads!
YAY for the weekend. Hope it's a good one.
And hey don't be shy, tell me your TILT

Ranga for PM

Say hello to T.I.L.T.

So I noticed that I've had a few more follows join recently. Welcome welcome welcome.
Now that I have an audience I figure I should try to deliver something to keep you coming back.
My favourite blogger Chantelle over at fatmumslim does a weekly post assignment called point and shoot, I love it and participate most weeks. In fact a lot of my blog posts end up being point and shoots. So I was thinking I should do something weekly to get my blogging mojo back on track, so I came up with T.I.L.T.

THINGS I LOVE THURSDAY

The beauty of this is there is SO much room for cheating.
Things I love Tuesday, Things I Love Today, Things I Love Tonight!!!
(and hopefully there won't be too much need to use it but Things I Loathe Thursday might come in handy as well).

So without much further ado my first official TILT entry shouldn't really be called a thing and it's something I love everyday and it's my little boogaloo
Miss SADIE ESTRELA M.

My life really was changed for the better 20 months ago when this little creature made her (late) entrance. When she was a baby I could just stare at her for hours in amazement that I had made this being. In fact I still sometimes do.
Now I spend most of my days laughing at that cheeky little face. I have a little clown on my hands, who has now worked out that she can make people laugh on command, so it's nothing unusual for me to walk into a room and see her with a pair of knickers (clean from the airer!!!) around her neck and a basket bobbling over her head while asking "Where's Sadie?".

Oh fun times. There's so many things I love about her.
I love that she loves music and will shimmy around the house and bop away in the car.
I love that she is full of love and gives the biggest hugs from those tiny arms.
I love how her face lights up when I get home from work, or when she hears P's keys in the door.
I love when we get to our swimming lessons and her Nan is in the pool doing aerobics, that she starts shouting for Nanny as soon as we walk through the door.
I love how she will put her toast on photos of family and friends and share her "yum yums".
I love that she makes me strive to be a better person so I can teach her to be the best she can be at anything she does.

What do you love today?
C'mon join the love fest.
Leave me a comment or dedicate a blog post to your T.I.L.T.

I might even try to get this blogging mojo into top gear and give you a few more T.I.L.T.s over the next few days

Feel the power

OK so I'm happy to admit I'm a big fan of Trash TV. The Hills, The City, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, I love them. I'm having trouble lately getting enough TV viewing time with the world cup, an active 20 month old and life in general I don't have the "arse time" that I once had. Thank goodness for Foxtel IQ and the fact that I can get up at the crack of dawn to catch up.
It was a bit chilly this morning but I wanted to watch The Hills so up I got, kettle and snuggie on and I was rewarded in a way I never thought.

While I don't want to discount the healing properties of crystal, there was a scene with Spencer Pratt ranting and raving, covered in crystals and claiming that his crystals were making him a calmer person. I laughed my arse off (I wish literally). Douche bag.
I'm still trying to work out if he is actually an extremely smart thick skinned actor who is cashing in on people's love of voyeurism or if he really is a naive douche bag.
I think the latter is true but either way his lunacy is pretty entertaining

UMMM where did I put my late pass

Sorry I'm late, I really shouldn't be as I've had this point and shoot in my head all week, but well I could fill a couple of pages with excuses, or just get on with it. So without much further ado I give you this weeks point and shoot.
You may remember that last weeks P&S  was a little sewing project. Well.......

If you don't know Yo Gabba Gabba, Sadie is dressed as Foofa.

We (OK me) are a little obsessed with Yo Gabba Gabba, it's possibly the coolest show EVER!
So when the invite arrived for Nicholas's dress up party, I knew straight away what Sadie had to go as.
I'm hoping because my little project turned out so well that the sewing bug will stick around so I can whip up some pieces for myself. I'm having enough trouble finding five minutes to read and write blogs so I won't hold my breath, but I will try.
In the meantime I am going to attempt to get through a couple of point and shoots and possibly try to clean out my inbox.

I SEW love point and shoot

sometime Saturday arvo

Sadie has a fancy dress party next weekend. I decided it was time to pull out the machine and get my butt into gear and get her costume sorted. For fear of failure I don't want to show you until it's finished, but I spent the good part of Saturday afternoon patting myself on the back.
I'm hoping that some sewing mojo will stay with me, I have a few projects I'd love to start (and finish) for myself so fingers crossed.

A lovely weekend was had around here. On Saturday I did a quick dash to the sisters market to grab a few goodies from Susannah Tucker at her last market in Oz and there were some goodies I wanted to pick up from the always lovely Alison from Lark. This was followed by my sewing session and managing to sew with a munchkin insisting on holding the reverse button down on my machine. Just when I thought she couldn't get any cheekier.........

My stomach was rumbling as I cleaned the house Sunday morning, Sadie and her dad finally rolled out of bed around 11 ish and we went for a leisurely stroll down to the village for some brunch. I love love love that we have so many destinations that are a short walk away.
Now that we are a bit settled I can't wait to explore our new "hood".

I also had loads of fun with the hipstamatic app I had forgotten about on my phone, here's some point and shoot out takes.
Have you played point and shoot yet? C'mon join in here

Another one for the naughty corner

I thought I should add Mr Brand to the naughty corner while we were on topic.
I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this man oozes sexiness, even if none of my friends agree.

I've always had a fascination with people who are willing to share their demons.
My bookshelf is scattered with autobiographies from stars that have battled some form of addiction or other.  Here's a few of my favourites
The Dirt by Motley Crue. It's amazing to read a story from four different points of view. I laughed, I cried and I cringed,a lot but this is one book I am hesitant to borrow out as it really is a favourite.
An oldie is Drew Barrymore's Little Girl Lost, I just checked it's tattered cover and this was published in 1990. 20 years ago. Far out, was i really only 14 reading this!!!
I would love to read a follow up, I'm a big Drew fan and she has done heaps in the last 20 years.
Russell's My Booky Wook also deserves a mention. A brutally honest tale with loads of humour, scandal and debauchery.  There are certain things he has done for which I should really dislike him, like dressing as Osama Bin Laden on September 12 2001, but his charms continues to reel me back in.
Last time he was in OZ I saw his stand up show and loved it , Because of our move, I missed his show this week and I'm a little sad but I have my fingers crossed that Get Him To The Greek will fill the void. Fingers crossed.

I love naughty boys

Naughty boys are my weakness.
I love Robbie. I've seen him live more times than I can remember and have even flown to see the same show in a different state. I will admit his last few albums have been a bit disappointing and when I read his was bringing out (another) greatest hits I wasn't too excited, then I watched this video. Oh Rob you have brought much joy xoxo

point and shoot

Bye Bye house
sunday 6th May 10.46 a.m.

On a bleary winter's day we scrubbed, wiped, mopped and used every other cleaning adjective you can think of to get our old house ready for it's new dwellers.
Although I was the one that was desperate to get outta there, I was a little sad to say goodbye. I mean this was the home in which we first lived together, that we bought our baby home to, that P built with his own two hands (and a few extra sets).
I guess he would have a bigger emotional attachment to it than I. He brought the land when we were still "friends". I had NO input into the layout or the exterior so to me it has always kind of felt like P's place. I will miss a few things about it though
Ducted vacuuming oh how we were friends
And my favourite part of the house the powder room with my movie star lights.
I really hope the lady that is moving in loves them as much as I did.

So that's it done and dusted (and dusted and dusted!)
Goodbye Reservoir, it's now time to get acquainted with our new surroundings, well once we sort out this last load of boxes........
